Summer Reading TBR

 My Summer reading TBR

So I have a very long holiday this year before I go back to school in September, so I have about just under 4 months off. Which means I can fit in a lot of reading and here are some of the books which I am planning to read although it is very unlikely I will actually read all of them.

1. The Vampire academy series by Richelle MeadVampire academy

I very recently watched the film and I thought it was really fun and had such loveable characters and it made me really want to read the books. I’ve been told I should have a little break once through about the halfway mark of the series so I may have a break and read a nice light contemporary novel.

Synopsis: ‘St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever’

2. The selection trilogy + novellas by Kiera Cassselection

I’ve been waiting for this box set to come out for ages and its out this summer. I can’t wait to read this trilogy.

Synopsis:For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined’

3. Anna and the French kiss trilogy by Stephanie Perkinsanna

All I hear about these books are amazing things. The last book is out in July or August so I can marathon it

Synopsis: Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris–until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all…including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?’

4. Vicious by Victoria Schwabvicious

I’ve heard this book is kind of like x-men or really just any Marvel movie so I cant wait to read it.

Synopsis: ‘Victor and Eli started out as college roommates—brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys who recognized the same sharpness and ambition in each other. In their senior year, a shared research interest in adrenaline, near-death experiences, and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong. Ten years later, Victor breaks out of prison, determined to catch up to his old friend (now foe), aided by a young girl whose reserved nature obscures a stunning ability. Meanwhile, Eli is on a mission to eradicate every other super-powered person that he can find—aside from his sidekick, an enigmatic woman with an unbreakable will. Armed with terrible power on both sides, driven by the memory of betrayal and loss, the archnemeses have set a course for revenge—but who will be left alive at the end?’

5. My life next door by Huntley Fitzpatrickmy life

This looks like such a perfect summer read and I’ve heard nothing but good things.

Synopsis: ‘The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, messy, affectionate. And every day from her rooftop perch, Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs up next to her and changes everything.

As the two fall fiercely for each other, stumbling through the awkwardness and awesomeness of first love, Jase’s family embraces Samantha – even as she keeps him a secret from her own. Then something unthinkable happens, and the bottom drops out of Samantha’s world. She’s suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself?

In total 15 books, I really hope I can get through all of them these holidays!

  1. Best of luck with reading all of these, and many more! I think I ought to compile a list of books to read in the next three months and not get sidetracked by any others, because I feel like I’m slowly getting swamped by all the books I’ve got to read. Thank you for showcasing all these books- you gave me a plan to organise my tbr shelf! x

  2. Forming a summer TBR is one of my favorite things about summer. That’s how you know you’re a book nerd. 🙂

Anyway, I hope you successfully complete yours! The Selection is a nice, light series to read during the summer – I haven’t read the last one yet, though. And Stephanie Perkins’s books are just as cute as everyone says – I can’t wait for Isla to release.

    Happy summer reading!
