Top 10 saddest scenes from The Vampire Diaries

Disclaimer- There will be spoilers from seasons 1-5 so don’t look if you are not up to them yet…not unless you like being spoiled. These are just my opinions and I know not everyone will agree with me. All photos and videos used do not belong to me, if they do belong to you just comment if you want credit for them! Thank you! 😛

10. Bonnie’s Grams death scene

This was from Season 1 episode 14. It was probably the first scene that truly made you sympathize with the characters. I didn’t really care for Bonnie or Grams much at this point during the show but I have to admit this scene was very emotional.
Here is a link to the full scene: Bonnies Grams death

9. Caroline and her Dad scene

This was from season 3 episode 13. I think the saddest thing about this scene is that it could of went either way. He could of survived. I think its the first in the series where we have seen someone choose not to become a vampire. It was really sad because Caroline thought he hated what she was and couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t become a vampire.
Here is the link to this scene: Caroline and her Dad

8. Elena realising Jeremy is dead elena

This was from season 4 episode 15. This just brought back all the memories of the people who have died before. Jenna. John. Alaric. It was so sad when Elena was asking Damon about Ric “I know you want your drinking buddy back” 😥 It makes you realise how many people she has lost in the past what 1-2 years and how much things has changed. She’s lost 3 sets of parents and now her brother. Here is the link to this scene: Elena realising Jeremy is dead

7.  Bonnies funeralbonnies funeral

This was from season 5 episode 4. Bonnie wasn’t even one of my favourite characters but the things what she said to all her friends were so sad, I cried like a baby. She knew exactly what to say to all of them to make them feel better and the fact that she got to say goodbye was all she could of wanted. Also if a Birdy song is playing, you know it is going to be a sad scene. Here is the link to this scene: Bonnies Funeral

6. Jenna and John’s funeral jenna and john

This was from season 2 episode 19. And yet another Birdy song. And yet another funeral. I really miss Jenna and surprisingly I really miss John. His letter which he left for Elena just redeemed his character so much. Also can I just add poor Alaric yet again losing another girlfriend. He must be so confused whether he should stay and look after Elena and Jeremy or leave Mystic Falls before anything else goes wrong. Here is the link to this scene: Jenna and Johns funeral

5. Elena dies/car flashback elena car scene

This was from season 3 episode 22. I think this is one of the best scenes in the history of the Vampire diaries. I loved the flashbacks to when Elena’s parents died. I loved the symmetry of it all. It was so emotionally captivating. Also this is also the scene when Alaric dies for reals this time.  Its so sad that Damon is not only seeing his best friend die but at the very same time he knows that Elena is also dead. Then Alaric appears as a ghost to Jeremy and tells him he will never be alone . RIP ALARIC + RIP HUMAN ELENA 😥 Here is a link for the scene: Elena dies/Car Flashback

4. Stefan’s death scene stefan death

This was from season 5 episode 21. Candice Accola’s acting in this scene was pure gold. I loved how Stefan and Caroline’s relationship has developed through this season. Always sticking up for each other. But then Stefan literally gets his heart ripped out. The song playing in the background is full of determination because we know that Caroline will stop at nothing to get Stefan back. Steroline! Here is a link to the scene: Stefans death scene

3. Alaric’s ‘death’ scene alaric death

This was from season 3 episode 20. This may be cheating a little because I’m referring to two scenes. The first is when everybody comes to say goodbye to Alaric. And he talks to Elena and Jeremy. ‘Taking care of you and Jeremy has been the closest to come of the life I’ve always wanted’ With The Fray playing in the background could this episode become any sadder. Yes. By doing the Damon and Alaric goodbye speech too. This was hands down the best and most unlikely friendship on the show. Here is the link for scene 1 and scene 2

2. Damon and Elena goodbye scene

This was from season 5 episode 22. Hands down the best Delena scene ever. I’m sure in seasons to come it will be hard to be this scene. ‘Its the epitome of a fulfilled life’ For anyone who has ever doubted there love for each other please re-watch this scene. Also I loved the song in the background for this scene. Here is the link for this scene- Damon and Elenas goodbye

1. Alaric and Damon grave scenedamon and alaric

This was from season 4 episode 2. First can I just applaud how well the writers incorporated Alaric death into season 4. In a lot of other TV shows they would of just mentioned him once or twice. I loved what this scene showed about Damon’s character. He’s not staying there to try and win the girl he’s staying there to look after Elena and Jeremy because that’s what Alaric would of wanted. If Ric was alive still Damon would of left because he is the only one he trusts with Elena and Jeremy’s safety. I think Alaric’s death shows off Damon’s humanity better than any other character on the show including Elena. Here is the link for this scene: I miss you too buddy 😥

Well I would say that was fun but honestly it was rather depressing. Leave comments down below saying what was your saddest scene and what are you hoping to see in season 6?

The Fiery Heart by Richelle mead

The Fiery Heart

Plot synopsis:fiery

WHEN PULSES QUICKEN NO SECRET IS SAFE. Sydney always believed that alchemists were born to protect vampire secrets and human lives – until she met Marcus and turned her back on everything she once knew. But she’s not free yet. When her sister Zoe arrives, Sydney can only tell her half-truths about her past. And with every word she risks exposure – and the fatal consequences. Consumed by passion and vengeance, Sydney must choose her path once and for all. Even if that means harnessing her magical powers to destroy the way of life she was raised to defend…

This book was very different to the previous books in the series. In a good way though. One major difference in the format was the double POV, I have never really liked double POV books as I always found it hard to decipher who is who. However in this book it was easy to understand as Adrian and Sydney are two very different people. I think I liked Adrian’s chapters a bit more. It was a big change to both the previous books in the series and the Vampire Academy series as we have never been in the perspective of a boy, or a moroi, or a spirit user. I think the spirit aspect was really interesting as we have never truly understood what using to much spirit does and how being cut off from spirit effects them.

Another major difference to the plot was that Sydney and Adrian are finally together! Finally after 3 books! But there are a lot of complications. One would be her sister Zoe. I did not like her at all, she was to sneaky and two faced. I knew I couldn’t trust her as soon as she tried to impress her dad at the family dinner by making Sydney look bad.

I really liked seeing all the old characters back again when they went to the court to do research. Lissa, Christian, Rose, Dimitri…the list could go on of all the characters.

I think this book had the biggest cliff hanger of all the series, luckily for me the next book in the series just recently came out. I feel like it is going to be a depressing one.

5/5 stars.

Favourite quote- Relax, having kids is years away. But can you imagine? Your brains, my charm, our collective good looks… then add in the usual physical abilities dhampirs get. It’s really not even fair to everyone else.

The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead book discussion

The Indigo Spellindigo

Plot Synopsis:

An ancient magic. A heart-wrenching decision… Sydney Sage is an Alchemist. She protects vampire secrets – and human lives. In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she is struggling to decide between following her Alchemist teachings – or her heart. Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch, a former Alchemist who is now on the run. As Marcus pushes her to rebel, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought. There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as Sydney searches for the person attacking powerful young witches, she realizes that she must embrace her magical blood – or else she will be next.

I really like the difference between this series and the Vampire Academy series. The VA series was much more of a vampire book where as the Bloodlines series is more of a witchy book. I have never really read a witchy book (unless you count Harry Potter) and it has really opened my eyes to this sort of theme in books and I will definitely check some more witch books.

If you guys have any suggestions let me know!

I liked the introduction of the new character Marcus, I am sure he will play a very important role in the next books. I actually thought he was going to turn out to be a love interest to Sydney but by the end of the book I am pretty sure that is not going to happen. I really like the scene with the fight between Adrian and him. Ah Adrian defending Sydney’s honour. Even if she didn’t particularly want it defended.

Near the beginning of the book it was the wedding scene and I was so happy to see some of the older characters from the books. I loved seeing Rose and Dimitri together as in the previous books we have only ever scene them one at a time. We even got to see Lissa and Christian, I hope they play a bit more of a role in the next books.

The scene with Adrian and Sydney dancing was adorable, Adrian new he shouldn’t have done that he could of blew there cover easily and got both of them in immense trouble but Adrian does what Adrian wants to do.

I was completely thrown off guard with the Veronica-Alicia-witchy storyline, I didn’t expect it at all. I couldn’t even remember who Alicia was until it was explained. Definitely a very good and unexpected plotline. That is the plotline what boosted this book up before the golden lily and possibly even the first book bloodlines to my favourite.

The forbidden romance was amazingly frustrating. Even more frustrating than the Rose and Dimitri relationship in VA!

I am so glad they are finally together.

But approaching the end of the book things have just gotten really really difficult in maintaining there secrecy from the Alchemists and Moroi and Dhapmir. Basically the rest of the world.

I’m excited to see in the next book if I will like Zoe or not? And how Adrian and Sydneys relationship will unfold.

5/5 star book!

What did you guys think?

Favourite quote- You’re not as much of a lost cause as she was. I mean, with her, I had to overcome her deep, epic love with a Russian warlord. You and I just have to overcome hundreds of years’ worth of deeply ingrained prejudice and taboo between our two races. Easy.”

The Character TV show tag

The Character TV show tag

1. Who is the best kick-ass character?allison

Allison from teen wolf (RIP Allison). She wasnt even one of my favourite characters of the show but I have got to admit she saved the day every episode. She had her flaws but at the end of the day she was the most skilled teenager on that show and she was only a human.

2. Which character do you most dislike?governor

The governor from the walking dead. He is the most repulsive and disgusting man on any TV show I have ever watched. DIE. Those two episodes in season 4 based around him I began to change my mind and then, no, you are still a physco

3. If you could date any character from any TV show who would it be and why?deputy

Every male specimen from TVD, Stiles and Derek and PARRISH (new favourite of mine) from teen wolf, and Dean Winchester from supernatural. Also side note, lets pray to god that Parrish turns out to be a good guy.

4. If you could change a character in any way what would it be?klaus

I would change Klaus, so that he would kill for purpose. I remember him and Damon talking about it one episode and he was wondering why Caroline does not forgive him for all the bad stuff he has done where as Elena does for Damon. Klaus should stop killing for the sake of being bad. Take a page from the Damon dating handbook and you might get the girl.

5. What character to you made all the wrong choices that didn’t add anything to the plot?carl

Carl from the Walking dead, he is just so annoying. So, so annoying. What the show and be annoyed by fricking Carl

6. Which character was the best villain whom you love to hate?katherine

Katherine Pierce. She is just so bad. She does terrible terrible things, and takes joy in other peoples suffering. Even when she turns human she gets one over on all of the vampires. The day she knew she was going to die, she just had to make her doppelgängers life a bit harder. Then she gets sucked in to hell. I think most people who watch this TV show prefer Katherine to Elena any day.

7. Favorite side-kick character with the most heart?stiles

STILES from Teen wolf, I mean lets be honest 90% of the reason we watch Teen wolf is for his sarcastic commentary. The other 10% is for the hot guys.

8. What is your favorite fictional romantic relationship?deleans

Probaly either Damon and Elena, just because it was beautiful to watch their relationship form over 5 seasons or Klaroline (Klaus and Caroline) I think they had one of the most interesting relationship. I also don’t know if it really counts because they were never technically in a relationship together- they just had a bond. And kissed and had sex. I also always looked forward to seeing here scenes together more than any other characters .

9. What character did you think was the strongest?caroline

Caroline Forbes. She just gets so much shit from everyone. Every single person who she has ever had a relationship with on this show (minus Klaus) has had something horrible to say about her. Then she gets turned into a vampire and her best friend doesn’t talk to you. She got killed and was in a hospital full of blood bags. She did not choose to turn. And then after everything she goes through, keeping her secret from her Mom who is the Sheriff. And then her Dad dying. And her numerous break ups. But she never once has turned off her humanity.

10. Best protagonist?dean

Dean Winchester from supernatural. He is such a fantastic main character. If there was anyone I would want to watch start and stop the apocalypse, unleash all demons from hell and fall in love with an angel (maybe that last one didn’t really happen)-its this guy.

Here is my version of this for book characters!

Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead book discusion

last sacrificeLast Sacrifice

Plot synopsis:

Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules. She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir’s Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardians to come.

Now the law has finally caught up with Rose – for a crime she didn’t even commit. She’s in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She’ll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.

But the clock on Rose’s life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back…and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your whole life is about saving others, who will save you?

The first big part of this book was getting Rose out of Jail…or else she would be executed for treason. Already just writing that you know it is going to be an awesome book. I thought it was quite smart how they did it and it just reminded me of a scene from a movie so much but I cant quite put my finger on what it was. All I know it was badass.

After escaping, we still had no idea what was going on- like Rose. Then we discovered that the plan was for Rose, Dimitri and Sydney to just stay in a hotel in hiding until Lissa and the gang could figure out who killed the Queen. Yeah like that was going to happen. The way Rose escaped was just cruel to Dimitri, kissing him to distract him and then punch and run. That was mean Rose.

Then she finally realised she could do something after all- finally. I didn’t understand why she hadn’t thought of it before. She needs to find lissas sister.

But sadly with all the commotion Rose made they have to leave the comforts of the hotel- instead they go to The keepers. These are moroi and dphamir who do not live in modern day society. And it was really…weird.

I thought it was funny when that guy asked Rose to marry him and then she had to fight his sibling to see if she was worthy. Then Dimitri was just laughing and not even trying to help. Poor Rose, that makes three boys who are in love with her, not counting Mason.

Even though they are the bad guys I kind of liked Victor and Robert. I really wanted to know what they were up to and why they were helping.

Once we reached Sonya Karps house I knew what was going to happen, she would become moroi again, and she’s actually not as crazy as I thought she would be, but that is mainly due to Roberts healing, it will come back over time.

So we finally find out where this mystery Dragomir is and when we get there it was Jill. There was a few hints at who it could be during the book and I cant believe I didn’t think of her. However that wasn’t the most shocking thing to have happened in the story. I was shocked but I wasn’t blown away.

With Lissa now doing the trials in order to be a candidate to become the new queen, I knew where this story was heading. Lissa would become Queen. I really liked the trials what she did, the first one was kind of like The hunger games minus the killing people…basically she just had to survive on her own in the wilderness. The second trial was like the fear landscapes in Divergent where she had to face all her fears. /i felt really bad for her on that one. And the third was a question what she had to answer. I had no idea what she was going to say for that one.

Then Victor and Robert kidnapped Jill, no it was going so well! But in consequence to that we got that tent scene with Dimitri and Rose. I felt really bad for Adrian. He was going to be heart broken when he finds out. I cant wait to find out what happens with Adrian in the bloodlines series though, seeing as he is my favourite character.

When Rose killed Victor, I felt bad for both of them. Victor didn’t deserve death but he could do one day, I have a feeling his plans would of went far worse. But Rose had just killed a moroi.

Lets skip to when we are back at court, and everything is going to be revealed. I was expecting a huge commotion over Jill. But it wasn’t that bad, well after Daniella confirmed it.

Then they revealed who killed the Queen and I was shocked! This was the most shocked I had been. I cant believe Tasha Ozera did it. That is going to look very bad for the Ozera name now. It all made sense though. That’s when all the commotion started.

Then Rose got shot defending Lissa. I was quite sad to see the bond go now. I think Rose felt a bit lost without it.

I felt bad for Adrian too, when him and Rose talked about there relationship. 😥 Don’t worry Adrian you will find love in the spin off series.

There was a lot of things unanswered in this book which I am looking forwards to be answered in the spinoff series.

So once again 5/5 stars. This may be my new favourite series.

Favourite quote- “Rose, I’m an addict with no work ethic who is likely going to go insane. I’m not like you. I’m not a super-hero.” “Not yet,” I said.”

Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead book discussion

Spirit BoundSpirit Bound

So we start off this book with Rose ready to do her trials in order to become a guardian. Lets be honest we all new she would do the best in the class, seriously Rose have a bit more confidence girl! Its almost like old times before anything too bad ever happened. They were at school and it was awesome, Rose and Adrian are going out and its going really well. But then the prison break.

I thought it was really awesome how they did it and really smart, only one thing went wrong and that was that they had the wrong forms which wasn’t to bad if worst came to worst Lissa just had to compel the guards. But she couldn’t compel too many at a time, so why didn’t they bring Adrian? He could easily fit into the plan, I know Rose wanted to keep out of it and all but still, she got Eddie involved. Who would be forgiven quicker Eddie just a newbie guardian or Adrian the queens favourite (and only) great nephew?

When they had Victor and went to Las Vegas and Adrian showed up and he was like ‘Did you know Victor Dashkov is sitting on your bed?’ I was laughing so much. And at the same time I felt so bad for him, he thought all he was intruding was a girls little holiday get away to Las Vegas, never did he imagine this!

When they met up with Victors brother and figured out how to return a strigoi back to normal, I thought it made so much sense and it seemed so much easier than I thought it was going to be. Until he said that the spirit user had to also stake them. Ah that could complicate things.

I hated how everyone was bashing Adrian about smoking and drinking, its just his own way of medication, sure its not very healthy but he needs it in order to not become depressed, he doesn’t have the bond so he just has to cope with all the darkness by himself.

When they found out about Lissa’s dad always going to Las Vegas I was like, this is going to be a vital plot for the next book isn’t it.

Things were looking up now that they found out how to fix Dimitri, until he turned up and Victor escaped. We are going to see a lot more of him in the next book aren’t we.

Lets skip a few chapters ad go onto when Lissa has turned Dimitri back into a dhapmir…what the hell has happened to him, I know he feels guilty about everything he has done but why is he being so grateful to Lissa. Dimitri get yourself together man.

When it got to the Adrian and Rose sexy times scene and then they didn’t have a condom. Really? I was laughing so much. I’ve got a feeling they wont continue that later. I think her and Dimitri will definitely end up together.

Now approaching the last few chapters of the book and I knew something big was going to happen. And it did not disappoint. The queen is dead :O And everyone thinks Rose killed her. Even bigger shocked face. And then that letter from Tatiana got me so excited for the next book! Another Dragomir! I am so exited to find out who it is.

Also I am excited to see what part Victor has played in this because this was his plan all along wasn’t it? But I think its to obvious of a solution to it for him to of killed the Queen.

Favourite quote: Dreams, dreams. I walk them; I live them. I delude myself with them. It’s a wonder I can spot reality anymore.

A song that reminded me of the book: Wishing Well- Blink 182

Its kind of like how all Rose wanted was Dimitri back to normal. Yet in the end its bittersweet since he refuses to talk to her.

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead book discussion

Blood Promiseblood promise

Rose Hathaway’s life will never be the same. The recent attack on St. Vladimir’s Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose’s neck, a mark that says she’s killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters … Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life’s vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She’ll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved? Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir’s and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?\l “

So shadow kiss left off with such big turn of events for them all. And boy was it an adventure in this book.

I loved the new character, Sydney in this book, I know that she has quite a big role in the spin off series Bloodlines (along with Adrian hmmm). I really liked her and it has made me very excited to find out more about the alchemists and to of course read that series.

Another new character we met (okay we met LOADS of new characters in this book) was Avery, I knew there was something off about her since the first page of meeting her. You are not replacing Rose bitch and you are not going out with Adrian. I did not expect that she would be a spirit user too, it did not even cross my mind at all, I felt so stupid and shocked when we found out. To be honest I still didnt reallu understand why she wanted to kill Lissa and then bring her back to life, it didnt really make sense to me.

Throughout the book I was like Lissa what the hell are you doing, I thought she was just turning into Adrian with the drinking or something to cope with using spirit magic. But no it was stupid bitch Avery. It seems like spirit users are becoming quite easy to come across. Not as rare as we thought.

The worst thing Avery did was split Christian and Lissa up, they are too cute together to not be together!

Side note: I really hope we see a lot more of Christian in this next book, I feel like he is turning into a minor character.

Another new character we met was Abe, I cannot believe I did not make the connection of the name Abe and Ibrahim. It made so much sense, through out the book I was like who could possibly want Rose to get back so much that they hired Abe to do it. And then turns out he wasn’t hired to do it. he’s her frickin father. I was blown away.

I really loved the Belikov family, I really hope we get to see more of them in the future, they were so nice!

Also the other new spirit users and shadowkissed guy! Mark and his wife (I’ve forgotten what his wife was called) I really liked them and when they said there may be a way to unturn the strigoi, I was like this is what’s going to happen, this is the plot for the next book, we are going to get Dimitri back. But then he said Dashkov. No. Not this twat again.

They are going to have to break him out of prison aren’t they.

I am really excited to start reading spirit bound now, so many things were uncovered towards the last few chapters of this book!

5/5 stars

Favourite quote: “I know how devastated you must be to miss me, but leave a message, and I’ll try to ease your agony” Oh Adrian. 😉

Shadow kiss by Richelle Mead book review

Shadow Kiss

Plot synopsis:shadow

Is Rose’s fate to kill the person she loves most? It’s springtime at St. Vladimir’s Academy, and Rose Hathaway is this close to graduation. Since Mason’s death, Rose hasn’t been feeling quite right. She has dark flashbacks in the middle of practice, can’t concentrate in class, and has terrifying dreams about Lissa. But Rose has an even “bigger” secret . . . .She’s in love with Dimitri. And this time, it’s way more than a crush. Then Strigoi target the academy in the deadliest attack in Moroi history, and Dimitri is taken. Rose must protect Lissa at all costs, but keeping her best friend safe could mean losing Dimitri forever…

Shadow Kiss, the third book in the Vampire Academy series- and my favourite so far. From the very first page we see Rose’s character develop, as we see her coping with the loss and guilt over her friend Mason dying. Honestly I thought seeing Rose grieve and how she feels about it was sadder than him actually dying.

I loved the idea of the field experience, I thought it was very fun and before she got her partner (she thought it was going to be Lissa) we knew it wasn’t going to be Lissa. Rose so over reacted about getting Christian, he’s not that bad. C’mon Rose.

I think we need to have a little talk about Adrian. Yes again. I love his character, I think he’s my favourite in the series. He’s just so funny. We need even more Adrian in the next book. I felt kind of bad for him at the end of the book. Also I really like how he’s not a student but he’s not a teacher either, therefore he can do whatever he wants.

I liked how we got to explore more places in this world in this book, and learn a bit more about the royals when we went to the Royal Court, I loved that trip, it got me asking so many questions like what the hell is happening to Rose? How did Adrian convince them to be taken there? And what the hell is Tatiana’s problem? (I still cant believe what she talked about to Rose)

This book had such fast pacing, there was never a boring moment. The writing style just makes it so quick and easy to read and has just the right amount of detail.

The ending of this book is probably the one so far that has made me want to pick up the next book immediately.

Anyways you guessed it 5/5 stars.

I’ve also been thinking of making these into more of book discussions so I can discuss in more detail with spoilers of what I thought of the book and my reactions to what is happening, so let me know what you think?

Favourite quote: You will lose what you value most, so treasure it while you can

A song that reminds me of the book: From now on we are enemies- Fall out boy

It kind of reminds me of how Rose thought she was going insane because she kept seeing ghosts. Also the line ‘I only want what I cant have’ DIMITRI! Also when she tested the theory by almost kissing Adrian.

Frostbite by Richelle Mead book review

Plot synopsis:

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose…

It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks… This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price…

This is the second book in the Vampire academy series and was just as good as the first one! Although before reading this I read the summary of the book from goodreads, the same as what is above and it tricked me! I thought all of that would of went down in the first few chapters of the book, i thought it was just setting the strory up and that more was to come. No. All of that happend the space of 250 pages possibly more. Apart from that everything was great, it didnt really effect my judgement of the book I just thought i should mention it.

I liked the change of scenery in this book, I thought it was very fun and was a really nice change.

The introduction of some new characters was also really fun, I mean they introduced someone who I think could possibly turn into one of my favourites- Adrian. Lets just talk briefly about his part in the book. How did they not realise that he had spirit magic too…seriously Rose, I mean I know you were drunk when it kind of clicked in your brain but you really couldnt of even tried to remember the next day… Anyways I believe he is a main character in the spin-off series Bloodlines so I cant wait to get my hands on these.

Something I missed in this book was Lissa and Rose interacting with eachother, I really wish Lissa had a bigger part in this book, she missed out on all the adventure in the end, I felt quite sorry for her.

The Mason and Rose relationship thing was quite fun, I new Rose was just trying it out for his sakes.

Lets skip to the ending of the book where something (no spoilers here guys) really really bad happens to a semi-main character and to be honest I wasnt really that fussed about that but it was Roses reaction that got me pretty upset. This book just has all of the feels. All of them.

Again 5/5 stars

Favourite quote: You can’t force love, I realized. It’s there or it isn’t. If it’s not there, you’ve got to be able to admit it. If it is there, you’ve got to do whatever it takes to protect the ones you love.

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

This is beginning to look like a new favourite series of mine! This was just such a good first book of a series. It kind of reminds me of Harry Potter and the philosophers stone except the characters are a lot older. How they go to a boarding school but its no ordinary boarding school oh no its a boarding school for vampires. Aside from the vaguely similar plot lines throughout the book, the way the story followed was also similar, fairly normal at the start, during the middle of the story a few clues and adventures which add up to this explosive ending where bam sh*t goes down.

I have to say that one of my favourite things about the book was how easy it was to love a character and how easy it was to hate a character, there is no in between. The main character Rose is probably the most kick ass protagonist I have read about so far and so sassy. Then there’s her best friend Lissa who I cant help but just care for because she goes through so much but is so strong at the end. Then there is Dimitri. Dimitri Belikov. My favourite character thus far in this series. Just read the book no explanation needed. And Christian, his twisted humour is fantastic. Then the minor characters Mason, Natalie, Aaron and Mia just to name a few. Although minor they are all just so realistic and 3D, each with there own different personalities.

The humour in this book is just so great, if you have watched the movie then you will know that it has a mean girls vibe to it and it reflects the books humour perfectly.

I am literally going to start reading this book as soon as I finish posting this. By the time you see this I will probably be on the third book.

My favourite quote: ‘ You are so beautiful it hurts sometimes’ 😥

A song which reminds of the book: It particularly reminds me of the sexy times scene between Rose and Dimitri.
